Jason moved to the Shenandoah Valley more than 20 years ago from Norfolk VA to attend James Madison University. He instantly fell in love with the area and with his now wife, Lesley Jordan, whose family have been residents of the Valley for generations.

Jason has worked in the fields of land development, church administration, and law enforcement. He proudly served the City of Waynesboro as a police officer for 17 years. Rising through the ranks, he left the department as a Sergeant in 2013 and remained on as a part-time police officer until December 2015 when he launched a custom wood crafting business.

Jason and Lesley have four children who attend public schools in the Turner Ashby District. Lesley is a nurse at Sentara RMH. They’re living out Skipping Rock Beer Company’s values of family, fun, and freedom on their farm in Bridgewater, Virginia.

Ben was born and raised in Keene, NH. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps as an infantryman. He served in Alpha Company, 1st Battalion 25th Marines and was deployed to Fallujah, Iraq in 2006. At the conclusion of his service, Ben left the Marines as a Corporal.

After returning home, Ben was unsure of what the future would hold. He was a fan of Elm City Brewing Co. and decided to apply to join their team. He worked his way up from dish washer to cook to then to the position of Assistant Brewer which he held for 4.5 years. During this time Ben attended the Siebel Institute and completed their Brewing Science and Technology Associate program. Shortly after, he was offered Elm City’s Head Brewer position in 2012. During his 6 years in the role, his beers received many awards including a top 10 finish in the 2016 US Open Beer Championship, a 2016 GABF Gold Medal, and the 2018 World Beer Cup Gold Medal for his Belgian Dubbel.

Attracted to Skipping Rock Beer Company’s values of family, fun, and freedom, Ben moved his family to Augusta County and joined the Skipping Rock team as Head Brewer in April 2018.
