Ben was born and raised in Keene, NH. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps as an infantryman. He served in Alpha Company, 1st Battalion 25th Marines and was deployed to Fallujah, Iraq in 2006. At the conclusion of his service, Ben left the Marines as a Corporal.
After returning home, Ben was unsure of what the future would hold. He was a fan of Elm City Brewing Co. and decided to apply to join their team. He worked his way up from dish washer to cook to then to the position of Assistant Brewer which he held for 4.5 years. During this time Ben attended the Siebel Institute and completed their Brewing Science and Technology Associate program. Shortly after, he was offered Elm City’s Head Brewer position in 2012. During his 6 years in the role, his beers received many awards including a top 10 finish in the 2016 US Open Beer Championship, a 2016 GABF Gold Medal, and the 2018 World Beer Cup Gold Medal for his Belgian Dubbel.
Attracted to Skipping Rock Beer Company’s values of family, fun, and freedom, Ben moved his family to Augusta County and joined the Skipping Rock team as Head Brewer in April 2018.
