Get Into The Christmas Spirit!
Visit Staunton’s newest and largest brewery, just 5 minutes from downtown, for an authentic German-inspired holiday experience. The market will host +/-45 specially curated regional artisans, vendors, bakers, etc. showcasing their handmade wares the weekend of December 13th, 14th, AND 15th for a full weekend of festivities. A special beer will be brewed by Skipping Rock’s Brewmaster, Ben Mullett, just for the occasion!
About Skipping Rock:
Skipping Rock Beer Co. (SRBC) (www.skippingrockbeer.com) opened its doors March 15th, 2019. Our taproom and 17bbl production facility are located on a large 1.9 acre lot in a renovated greenhouse and retail store on the west side of the City of Staunton, VA – in the heart of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley.
The SRBC Christmas Market is a curated event. Applications for the Market will begin Thursday, September 5th. Please view our Vendor Application for more requirements. Selected applicants will be notified beginning Thursday, September 12th via a rolling admissions process. The deadline for submissions is Thursday, November 28th.
The 1st Annual SRBC Christmas Market is coordinated and curated by our small, amazing staff. Our vision for the holiday market is based off of traditional German Christkindlmarkets, where the wares are handcrafted and independently made, and the market features a rustic, romantic, and family-friendly ambience. These are the primary things we are looking for in our application submissions:
- Your products fit within our vision of artisan, handmade, and DIY craftsmanship. Meaning, they are original wares produced using traditional craft methods but not based on any pre-existing patterns or products. Your items are made by hand, NOT outsourced or manufactured somewhere that isn’t local to your community.
- Given that we aim to be a destination just a week and a half prior to Christmas, we request that pricing goes, at most, up to $250. We want to make our market is as accessible as possible for our community.
- Your inventory should avoid saturated trends like inspirational verbiage (“live, laugh, love,” etc…), kitschy mustaches/beard-themed items, political- or religion-promoting items, and inappropriate wares (need we specify?). Keep it classy. Keep it PG.
Fees & Allowances:
A $75 booth fee will be collected upon acceptance for a standard 10×10 area. You may apply with your own business, or as a combined application with ONE other business. If applying jointly, please be sure to list everyone on the same application, including both business names, websites, contact info and other details.
Applicants who are accepted and have paid by Thursday, September 30th will receive an “early bird” discount of $10.
Anyone who applies and is accepted MUST HAVE A CURRENT VIRGINIA BUSINESS LICENSE, if not, you will be required by the County of Augusta to purchase a “peddler’s permit” for the day of the festival. (This requires an outside fee paid directly to the Commissioner of the Revenue/ County of Augusta. Skipping Rock Beer Company is not responsible for this fee NOR is it covered by the booth fee.)
What Does The Booth Fee Cover?
Your fee covers your booth space and advertising for the Market. All artists will have their information featured on Skipping Rock’s website and social networking sites in the weeks leading up to and, of course, during the market. We will also promote the event itself via posters and various advertising opportunities including presence on both the City of Staunton’s, and the state of Virginia’s, official tourism websites which will draw numerous attendees to see your work in person. This often turns into other opportunities, including future sales, wholesale opportunities, media exposure, networking, and more.
We will provide clean, indoor bathrooms; snacks and hot beverages in our employee break room. It is December, after all. We ask that you maintain tidy conduct.
🔌 Please let us know what your electrical needs are, if any. Although we have outdoor outlets, we will be prioritizing many of them for our decorative Christmas lights. We recommend arranging a backup battery power source, or cash only. Keep in mind that Skipping Rock will not have an ATM on premise, and will not be amenable to exchanging cash.

When Will I Know If I Am Accepted?
You’ll be notified by email no later than Thursday, November 14th (we are accepting applicants via a rolling admissions process) if you have been accepted into the Market. Unfortunately, due to expected volume, we cannot provide individual feedback to all non-approved applicants.
If I’m Accepted, What Is Your Cancellation Policy?
We offer full refunds on cancellations two weeks prior to the Market. Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds within two weeks of the Market due to the administrative work already done by this time. Once you cancel, you forfeit your spot in the Market and you are not permitted to sell or trade your space. We are a curated event and reserve the right to fill spots as we see fit
Inclement Weather Policy:
SRBC intends to host the Market rain/snow/sleet/shine. In the event of the blizzard of the century, or any kind of weather that inhibits vendors from traveling/participating the day of, please notify Claire Casto #540.292.0295 asap. Full booth fee refunds will be given under this particular extenuating circumstance. Please plan accordingly if the forecast looks grim.
Terms And Conditions:
Vendors are required to commit to the entire 3-day weekend.
You are responsible for registering your small business with the IRS and collecting sales tax (if applicable) for the items you are selling. When tax time comes around, you’ll have to pay income tax on all the items you sold and pay the sales tax to the state. We recommend that you call the IRS and the Virginia Department of Taxation for more info.

The 1st Annual SRBC Christmas Market will include a photo on Skipping Rock’s website and social media platforms for each accepted vendor using an image of our choosing from the vendor’s application submission or social media sites.
While Skipping Rock will be promoting the Market via several local and regional platforms and media sites, we encourage vendors to cross-promote and advertise as well. This is a mutual gain situation!
